Sometimes I wonder what is cold…

It was a cold morning. I think it was 26th or 27th of December. By the time I got out of my bed, our Bai had already arrived. I just heard her telling my wife “Didi bahar baarish ho rahi hai”. I just though “Oh, is it really raining?” I got out of my cozy blanket and by the time I got freshen up, my tea was ready. But I was still not convinced that it was raining outside. I wore my sweater, took my cup of tea and went to the balcony to reach out to the newspaper. The newspaper had not arrived but yes it was raining outside and temperature was really low. I came to my bed, sat there sipping my tea and thinking “I did not realize that winters have arrived”

Just then I again heard our bai telling my wife “ Didi jab baarish hoti hai to hamara to sab saaman kharab ho jata hai, jhuggi me paani bhar jata hai, kal raat hamari jhuggi me itna paani agaya aur sardi ka mausam hai” I then just realized that “winters have arrived”.

Hearing the thud of the newspaper thrown into the balcony, I went outside to pick it up. I just started to shiver when I read that one person died in Delhi the last night because of cold. I hurriedly read both my newspapers – One English Daily and one Business newspaper – and started to get ready for the office.

After getting ready and loading myself with woolen clothes I started to climb down the stairs and hurried towards my car. I sat into my car – started the heater of my car and started driving towards my office. I was still wondering “Have the winters arrived?? I could not recall any instance when I was actually feeling cold.” That day roads were not as crowded as it used to be on a regular working day. I reached my office on time. But I started getting SMS’s from my team “Sir, I will be late because of rain” from almost every team member – reason being they come to office by bike. I was alone in office and still wondering “Have the winters arrived?”

I live in a modern compact compartment where winter breeze cannot enter until unless you allow by opening some door / window. The so called “imported blankets” used these days are really warm, one blanket is sufficient enough and even then if you feel cold, there is a heat convector to make you feel comfortable. Our geysers are gushing out hot water 24 x 7. We travel in cars with heaters fitted. Then how do we know that winters have come?

I still wonder what is cold…

Holi - The festival of colours

Hi All,
I have launched this blog on the occasion of holi - the festival of colours. I feel very sad that most of the people in this world take the meaning literally and spread colours around. But i have a different opinion. I feel the true meaning of holi is to spread colours in the lives of people around us and not on the body of the people. How many of us think of filling colours in lives of people, i suppose it is very less as people dont have time from their busy schedules. I would also like to mentione the name of the blog - The ultimate pleasure. Believe me, doing something anybody or giving somebody anything needed by them gives you the ultimate pleasure...So join me if you have similar thoughts.
